Who are the
Hearts & Hands...
Carlos & Robin
We created 260 Cacao with Spirit after Spirit spoke to us in the fermentation of cacao. Spending the last few years as managers of Tuqtuquilal Regenerative Center where we fell in love with the model of collective cacao production and reciprocity with the q'eqchi community.
After over a decade of living in rural Guatemalan communities and studying permaculture, our hearts are woven into the love of the mayan culture. We are now stewards of our own piece of land in Semil, Lanquin, called NA CHOCH, "mother earth", and dedicated to enriching the area through the expansion of the collective cacao model and food soveriegnty in the heart of the mayan jungle.

Why do we believe
Cacao with Spirit...
It all started when spirit began to make herself known to us in the process of cacao. She had already shown us that with more human subtle energy that flows from harvest through toasting, that she holds onto a delicious flavor and feeling that she brings to your cup.
A beautiful allegory to the world that we live in that is looking to industrialize for a higher consumption, and minimal value given back to those humans or natural elements in which are used in her materialization. A world where this industrialization and colonization has fueled division and separation from ourselves, our human neighbors, and nature. This division is breeding epidemics of illnesses physically, mentally and emotionally rooted in the separation of what we consume and how we relate to each other.
What would happen if we listened to the plants we consume? If we asked cacao what she needs? Well we did… she sent us messages that we must give a fair value to her as a plant, to the humans that cultivate her and to those that feel her medicine through the heart.
That we can give fair exchange and collaboration with the q’eqchi communities that cultivate her that can be the main sustenance to keep the families and culture together and resilient. To build relationships from soil to product with the community.
Energy is infused through the human input into the product. Cacao that has been harvested and opened by many hands, carried an hour by foot and mecapal through the mountains of the Lanquin valley, to be turned and moved several times a day carefully looked after through fermentation and drying, and then to be transformed over the precious ancestral comal toasted by q’eqchi women and peeled by hand. This is how spirit manifests in our cacao… How she sings through the days of the sacred calendar Cholq’iq influencing the variety of flavors and intentions that marinate in the cacao that you receive.
These varieties of energies can be taken into account for those that wish to take the personal journey of connecting and opening their heart, whether in personal use to infuse their day with intention, or to connect with open hearts in human connection. This is the true medicine. To come together, open our hearts, and feel the connection, community and compassion. Heal ancestral wounds or emotional triggers that lead us away from division and further into synchronicity. Connecting our heart and head for a balanced and harmonious living, actions and thoughts filled with love.
The sacred Mayan calendar Cholq’iq is based on us as humans, 13 joints and 20 digits that make up our body, and together make 260 days of gestation. This is creation. Each day brings with her a new way to connect with ourselves, with others and with nature. Now with the great medicine of cacao, what else may we need to open our hearts and change the world?
Cacao is one of the most ancient forms of market exchange. For us the cacao is the exchange with the outside world and with the local q’eqchi community. A symbol and a pillar of regeneration to the earth and ties to mayan culture, values and social weaving.
